Cannes 2022: Deepika Padukone makes classic appearance in Shimmery Sabyasachi saree
Deepika Padukone wore a dazzling black and golden striped saree by Sabyasachi on the red carpet at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, discarding her Louis Vuitton ensembles. Deepika made her red carpet debut as a jury member at Cannes 2022 in the six yards of hot elegance by Sabyasachi Mukherjee and a ‘Julia Fox’ makeup stint, after making her red carpet entrance in 2010 with her desi avatar in a white and golden saree by Indian ace designer Rohit Bal.
Deepika took to her social media account to publish dozens of new photos of herself recounting a “sari story” at the world’s greatest film festival. The photos show the diva on the French Riviera, wearing a Bengal Tiger couture saree designed by Sabyasachi as part of the legendary Aakash Tara collection, which highlights traditional Indian crafts and techniques through a contemporary lens.
At the Sabyasachi atelier, some of India’s best craftspeople block printed and hand stitched the stripes. To add oomph and enhance the hotness factor, the saree was paired with a sparkling black backless blouse with a sweetheart neckline and a teensy weensy sling strap.
The embroidered headpiece harkens back to the traditional Indian matha patti headgear with Art Nouveau details, while the chandelier earrings modernise a classic with an Art Deco feel. Deepika finished off her look with a pair of black rhinestone heels and a sophisticated bun for her long locks.
Deepika enhanced the glam factor with rosy flushed and accentuated cheeks and a dab of pale pink lipstick. Her eye makeup, on the other hand, drew a striking resemblance to Italian-American actress Julia Fox, who is known for her characteristic black eye makeup appearance, which she refers to as the “Fox eye.”
Shaleena Nathani, Siân Gabari, and Anjali Chauhan, celebrity fashion stylists, styled her. Deepika Padukone is one of the eight members of the Cannes 2022 jury. .
