Invincible Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Plot and More

When Amazon Prime Video released Invincible Season 1, it garnered such immense popularity that fans began clamoring for a Invincible Season 2 even before the Invincible Season 1 season concluded. Fortunately, Prime Video was attentive to their demands. Thanks to the efforts of dedicated fans who petitioned and utilized hashtags, the Invincible Season 2 was officially renewed in April 2021, and to everyone’s delight, Invincible Season 3 as well! Even prior to this unexpected announcement, creator Robert Kirkman had subtly hinted at the possibility of new episodes, although he acknowledged that securing a renewal would come with its fair share of challenges.
In regard to the production timeline, the Invincible writer expressed some apprehension, stating, ‘Developing and working on this season has taken us several years. However, as we progress into the second season and beyond, things will become more streamlined. There will be less need for extensive design and other tasks as we transition into the next chapter. In fact, it’s quite possible that some work has already been completed for the second season. So, if the show continues to thrive, we are well-positioned to move forward.’
Invincible Season 2 Release Date:
After a considerable period of anticipation, we have finally received a small but significant piece of information about the official Invincible Season 2 Release Date. We now have confirmation that the about Invincible Season 2 will premiere in late 2023.
Vernon Sanders, the Head of Television at Amazon Studios, playfully hinted that “2023 is going to be an excellent year for everyone,” and later confirmed that the show would indeed arrive before the New Year.
We can expect more concrete updates very soon.
Prime Video had previously been tight-lipped about the progress of Invincible. However, in September 2022, Khary Payton, the voice of Markus Grimshaw/Black Samson, provided a crucial revelation regarding the Invincible Season 2 status (via SuperheroHype).
“We have completed season two. We are already working on season three,” Payton shared. “But it’s challenging to say at this moment. There was an abundance of animation studios striving to complete their work, and it was as if projects were waiting with ready materials, saying, ‘Whenever you’re ready.'”
“I’m delighted that they gave the green light to both seasons two and three simultaneously because when season three is released, it will feel like the next season rather than a long wait,” Payton added.
To be fair to Robert Kirkman, he was occupied with the conclusion of The Walking Dead, which finished filming in March 2022 and aired in November 2022.
In January, Kirkman live-tweeted during the first episode of Invincible, providing fans with insights into the production process. He also shared an update on the progress of season two.
“I need to get back to work on season 2 (and 3)! I actually have a script due soon! Wish me luck!” Kirkman wrote. “And thanks for following along! I appreciate all of you!”
Despite the extended wait, it appears that seasons two and three have been in development for quite some time.
Invincible Season 2 Plot:
After the horrifying Invincible Season 1 finale, Invincible Season 2 plot will follow how Mark’s world has undergone a permanent transformation. His father, Omni-Man, has shattered their family (along with causing extensive damage to Chicago). While Nolan is currently absent, he will inevitably return with the full force of the Viltrumite race, determined to conquer Earth and expand their extraterrestrial empire.
In the concluding episode, Cecil implores Mark to assume his father’s role as Earth’s defender, and although he initially hesitates, his perspective will soon shift. Concurrently, Mark intends to complete his high school education, but this endeavor might prove challenging considering the imminent dangers he will face.
Besides the impending Viltrumite invasion, numerous adversaries of Invincible are poised to resurface. In the season’s final moments, Titan forms new alliances, mysterious pink aliens seize control of Mars, and the enigmatic white tiger individual remains active. Cecil takes a risky path by enlisting a deranged scientist to craft additional cyborg minions, presumably to confront Nolan upon his return.
Looking ahead, Mark’s relationship with Amber appears to have regained its strength, although its longevity remains uncertain. We hope to see William reunited with his partner soon, as their experiences in season one were far from favorable.
