IPL 2023: Ben Stokes’s heel pain puts CSK in a tough situation ahead of match with MI

CSK all-rounder Ben Stokes suffers heel pain post-practice session on Friday. The CSK team was practicing at Wankhede Stadium for their upcoming match against the IPL titans- Mumbai Indians.

The heel pain makes Ben Stokes doubtful for the Saturday night match against Mumbai Indians.

Because of this reason, the doctors have advised him to ten days rest.

This puts CSK in a tough situation as he will miss the next two matches which are against the Rajasthan Royals on 12th April and Star-packed team RCB on 17th April. 

Ben Stokes is an English all-rounder who was bought at a mini auction last year by CSK for Rs 16.25 crores.

This season the English player has played only two matches and the team is expecting more of him. 

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have had a mixed start to their IPL 2023 campaign, winning one and losing one of their first two matches. 

The four-time champions bounced back from a defeat against Gujarat Titans in their opener with a convincing win over Lucknow Super Giants at home, thanks to brilliant knocks from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali.

CSK have a strong batting line-up, with Devon Conway, Ambati Rayudu, Dwaine Pretorius and Ravindra Jadeja providing depth and firepower. 

Their bowling, however, has been inconsistent and needs to improve, especially in the death overs.

CSK have a balanced squad and a lot of experience, and they will be aiming to qualify for the playoffs and challenge for the title once again.

The CSK vs MI match is considered to be the El Classico of the IPL by their fans. Many fans describe it as a Barcelona vs Real Madrid match.

In an interview, even Moen Ali related the rivalries of CSK and MI to one of football’s old rivalries: Manchester United vs Liverpool. Both of these football clubs are top in the English Premier League. 

He also said that he always looks forward to CSK vs MI matches as according to him these two are the most successful franchises in the history of the Indian Premier League.
