IPL 2023: Jadeja’s wife gets emotional after the all-rounder leads CSK to victory in the last ball thriller against Gujarat

Chennai Super Kings achieved their fifth IPL championship with the exceptional all-round performance of Ravindra Jadeja. He played a pivotal role by dismissing Shubman Gill at a crucial moment and delivering an outstanding final over to secure a thrilling five-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT).

In the decisive last over, with CSK requiring 13 runs, Jadeja showcased his brilliance by hitting a six and a four off Mohit Sharma’s bowling on the last two deliveries. This remarkable feat allowed CSK to match the record of their fierce rivals, the Mumbai Indians, with five IPL titles.

Rivaba, the wife of Jadeja and a Member of Parliament for the BJP in Jamnagar, was filled with emotion as she joined the star all-rounder and their daughter Nidhyana in celebrating CSK’s victory. Following the match, Jadeja expressed his gratitude to ‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni by dedicating the win to him. Additionally, the all-rounder extended his appreciation to the fans who endured the rain that disrupted the match on May 28 and caused a delay on the Reserve Day (May 29) in Ahmedabad.

“I feel incredibly happy to have secured my fifth title in front of my home crowd. They turned out in large numbers to support CSK, and their enthusiasm has been exceptional. They patiently waited for the rain to stop until late at night,” expressed Jadeja.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the CSK fans. I dedicate this victory to one of our special team members – MS Dhoni. Throughout the match, I kept reminding myself to swing with all my might, regardless of the circumstances. Anything can happen in this game. Considering that Mohit can deliver slower deliveries, my aim was to hit straight. I want to congratulate every single CSK fan. Please continue to cheer for us just as passionately as you always have,” Jadeja added in the post-match interview.

Last year, there existed a certain level of tension between MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. Prior to the 2022 IPL, Dhoni relinquished his position as the captain of CSK and passed the mantle to Jadeja. However, midway through the tournament, Jadeja handed back the captaincy to Dhoni due to the team’s unsatisfactory performance. More than a year later, Dhoni displayed uncommon emotions by embracing Jadeja after his exceptional performance that secured a victory, and they joined in celebrating CSK’s fifth IPL championship as a unified team.
