IPL 2023: Sunrisers wins their first match of the season, beats Punjab by 8 wickets.

Sunrisers sealed their first deal of the season with a comfortable 8-wicket win against Punjab on Sunday night of the IPL 2023.

Chasing a total of 144 Sunriser lost their openers, Harry Brook and Mayank Agarwal early.

After that Rahul Tripathi and skipper Aiden Markram did not allow the team to fall short and took the team to the other side comfortably. 

Skipper Aiden Markram scored 74 runs of 48 balls.

Sunrisers won the toss and opts to field first. The decision soon turned out to be fruitful for the Orange army as they succeeded on taking some early wickets.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar made Punjab’s opener, Parbhsimran go for a golden duck.

Soon after that, the bowlers of the Orange Army were able to break the middle orders.

In between that, Dhawan stood alone like a lone wolf on the one end as he saw his teammates fall short one after another. Though Sam Curran tried to stable the health of the team but was soon sent back to the pavilion by Markande.  

Dhawan played a brilliant knock of 99 of 66. But despite his effort, he falls short of putting in a decent chasing score for the Orange Army.

Markande took 4 wickets of 15 runs for the Sunrisers followed by Umran Malik and Bhuvneshwar with two and one wickets respectively.

A brilliant bowling action by the Sunrisers restricted the Punjab Kings to a score of as low as 143.

This win against Punjab put the Orange Army in the eighth position ahead of Mumbai and Delhi, and Punjab is put into the sixth position in the points table.
