Met Gala 2022: Natasha Poonawalla Gleams In Glitzy Sabyasachi Saree & Schiaparelli bustier

Natasha Poonawalla, the Indian entrepreneur, was the lone Indian at this year’s Met Gala. She wore a golden Sabyasachi saree with statement jewellery on the red carpet, in tune with this year’s theme, In America: An Anthology of Fashion, or Gilded Glamour. Now that the ceremony is over, Natasha has released numerous breathtaking before and after photos from the occasion. Natasha looks stunning in a glitzy gown in the shots.

For those unfamiliar with Natasha Poonawalla, she is the executive director of Serum Institute of India, the world’s largest vaccine maker.

Sharing Natasha’s Met Gala look, Sabyasachi wrote, “For me, the sari is a truly unique and versatile garment that owns its identity even as it transcends boundaries and geographies. Back when I was a young fashion student, I often wondered when I would see the sari at big global fashion events like the Met Gala.” – Sabyasachi Mukherjee”

He added, “For the 2022 Met Gala, themed ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’, Natasha Poonawalla’s vision was to interpret the dress code ‘gilded glamour’ with an Indian gaze that revels in its multi-culturalism and authenticity. She wears a Schiaparelli hand-forged metal bustier paired with a custom Sabyasachi couture sari and trail.”

He concluded the post by explaining the materials used to create the design. He wrote, “Sabyasachi contributed to Natasha’s vision by celebrating Indian craftsmanship with a gold handcrafted printed tulle sari and trail embroidered with silk floss thread and embellished with bevel beads, semi-precious stones, crystals, sequins and appliquéd printed velvet. The jewellery is a curation of custom pieces from Sabyasachi Fine Jewellery and limited edition collectibles from Sabyasachi’s Curiosity Art & Antiquity Project-crafted using traditional techniques with precious and semi-precious stones.”

Kareena Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Karisma Kapoor, and Amrita Arora all hailed her appearance when her Met Gala photos went viral.

In terms of the Met Gala 2022, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda hosted and co-chaired the event this year.
