Priyanka Chopra Loves Having Only Her First Name Outside India

During a recent interview with The Telegraph-t2, Priyanka was asked about the challenges of having a common name like hers and how it’s used in Hollywood. In response, the actress expressed how she takes advantage of being the only Priyanka that most Americans know. However, when she’s in India, she often goes by the nickname PC since there are usually at least six other Priyankas in the room. Priyanka also shared her desire to become known by her first name only, like Cher or Rekha, both of whom are iconic stars recognized worldwide. She even admitted to not using her last name often while in America and expressed her love for being simply known as Priyanka.

Priyanka Chopra, who is preparing for the release of her upcoming spy series Citadel on Prime Video, recently expressed her desire to be known by her first name only, drawing inspiration from icons like Cher and Rekha. In a recent interview, the actor shared how she didn’t have to audition for her role as Nadia Sinh in the Russo Brothers-directed series, which marks the first time she received equal pay to her male co-stars in her 22-year-long acting career. A few weeks ago, Priyanka began promoting the show in Mumbai under her first name, Priyanka.

Priyanka’s upcoming spy series Citadel, executive produced by the Russo Brothers and showrunner David Weil, will premiere its first two episodes on April 28 on Prime Video. The series stars Priyanka as Nadia Sinha alongside Richard Madden, Stanley Tucci, and Lesley Manville. The first season of the show consists of six episodes.

In addition to Citadel, Priyanka has two other projects in the works. She will be starring in the film Love Again alongside Sam Heughan, Celine Dion, and Russell Tovey, set to premiere in May. Her husband, Nick, will also make a cameo in the film. Moreover, she will soon begin shooting for her next feature, Heads of State, in the UK, which also stars Idris Elba and John Cena. Coincidentally, Nick will be going on tour with the Jonas Brothers in the UK during that same time.

After tying the knot with musician Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra made headlines when she changed her name from Priyanka Chopra to Priyanka Chopra Jonas. However, she clarified in a Barstool Sports’ Chicks In The Office podcast interview that she did not change her name, but rather added her husband’s name to hers to honor traditions while also preserving her identity. She expressed her appreciation for her beautiful name and hopes to live up to its legacy.

Priyanka also shared her hope for a different kind of world in the future, where men take their partner’s name or simply do not change their names at all, a practice that is normalized. She added that the decision to add her husband’s name was not forced upon her but rather something she wanted to do to honor her parents’ tradition at the time of her marriage.
